The culture around us is full of messages and agendas.  Evolving priorities, ethics and moral values are flooding the church with new perspectives and truth that are challenging the foundations of how we view God and what it means to be a genuine follower of Jesus Christ.  If not grounded in understanding the Bible and its purpose for our lives, people can become confused and unsure of what they believe. The Bible Engagement Project is an age-aligned study that walks through the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation. The main thrust is to listen to the story of the Bible. 

Then Jesus said to them, “You foolish people! You find it so hard to believe all that the prophets wrote in the Scriptures. Wasn’t it clearly predicted that the Messiah would have to suffer all these things before entering his glory?” Then Jesus took them through the writings of Moses and all the prophets, explaining from all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.  The disciples listened to Jesus as He walked through the Scriptures. It is through listening that these Scriptures become clear and that the death and resurrection of Jesus makes sense. It is through listening that the disciples came to understand we were created to have a close relationship with God. We ruined that closeness by sin, and God is restoring our relationship with Him through Jesus. Listening helps people know how to approach God’s Word with a different posture. The Bible isn’t like any other book; it’s God’s revelation to man, Spirit-breathed, and the authority for faith and conduct.

From October through June, the study’s 30 topics of Listen will be woven into our Sunday services, BridgeKids, Student Ministries and Community Group gatherings. Listen will help each of us grow in the understanding of God, the Bible and how they both are intended to transform our lives in order to thrive. Since it includes children through adults, it will also help facilitate discipleship across generations. As everyone learns the same things at the same time, we will have an incredible opportunity to grow spiritually together.
