LEAP 1-Day will be a 1-day preview of our weeklong Summer Youth Workshop Series.

This is for 6th - 12th graders who are interested in developing their culinary skills, trying out crochet, experimenting in STEM, and having a lot of fun!

During LEAP 1-day students will: Learn skills during their specific workshop. Experience new friendships and relationships. Students will be an Apprentice to skilled qualified leaders in each field. Finally, our goal is to help Prepare students for life. 


Each student will chose a workshop for the LEAP 1-Day. Learn about our workshop options below!

  • Crochet

    Students will learn beginner crochet skills by making a dishcloth. During this project, students will learn how to hold a hook, yarn tension, making a slip knot, foundation chain, single crochet and slip stitch. 

    Topics will be discussed such as how to read a pattern, keeping the rows even and how and when to use stitch markers. 

    Students will gain crochet experience by using a one row repeat throughout and finishing off and weaving in the ends of their project. More advanced learners will have the option to create a beautiful border on their dishcloth! All students will learn to get comfortable with the craft of crochet. At the end of class, students will be send home with the pattern for their dishcloth as well as some patterns and materials for future projects using their newly acquired skills.

  • culinary

    Join us for a delicious journey into the world of culinary! In this hands-on class, you'll learn essential cooking techniques and flavor combinations. Have fun creating mouthwatering dishes, perfecting your presentation, and elevating your culinary skills.

  • STEM

    The STEM track for LEAP 1-Day will focus on learning the basics of electricity and generation. Students will build a model that demonstrates how an electrical generator works to power a light.
