What is LEAP??

LEAP is a week-long summer workshop series for 7th-12th graders. Each student chooses a skills-based workshop to attend each morning and has the opportunity to learn from skilled volunteers. Past morning workshops have included automotive, STEM, sewing, crochet, improv dramedy, and many more! After a lunch break, students have a block of group games and a block of instruction. Our afternoon sessions address common life experiences among teens, equipping them to navigate challenges and cultivate core values through a Christ-centered perspective of love, endurance, authenticity, and perseverance. Each student who attends LEAP receives a giveaway from their workshop, a certificate of completion, and has the opportunity to display a project from their morning workshop on Friday afternoon at our LEAP open house, which is open to families and the church community.

During LEAP students going into 7th-12th will: Learn skills during specific workshops. Experience new friendships and relationships. Be an Apprentice to skilled and qualified leaders in one of the specialized workshops. And finally, our goal is to help Prepare students for life.

2026 Workshops

Art Studio

Painter's Workshop

Students will explore a variety of artistic techniques using pencil, watercolor, and acrylic paint. Through guided projects such as landscapes, still life tablescapes, and portraits, students will build foundational skills while expressing their creativity.

Creative Writing

for Stage, Screen & Storytelling

Students are invited to explore storytelling through poetry, monologues, dialogue, commercials, scripts and more. Through hands-on activities, students will learn how writers use emotion, point of view, imagery and the five senses to create stories that truly connect with people. Together, we’ll explore how storytelling appears everywhere, from stage and screen to advertising and Scripture, and how Jesus used stories to help people feel seen, heard, and understood.

Laptops are allowed and encouraged during work time; however, you do not need your own computer to participate.

Culinary/Baking

Students will enjoy a wonderful week of learning new cooking and baking skills. From breakfast to dessert and everything in between, this SWEET and SAVORY workshop will be a week full of learning, creating, and tasting!

Music

Songwriting for vocals and instruments

Writing for vocals and instrumental performing- students who love to play instruments or sing songs will have an opportunity to learn the ins and outs of how music is created! We’ll learn about writing music for your voice or your instrument, and then have the opportunity to write some music ourselves, ending the week by learning about performance etiquette and expression!

Students in the sewing workshop will have the opportunity to work with sewing machines to learn various sewing skills. The projects the students work on throughout the week will give them the opportunity to practice skills, such as inserting a zipper, quilting, boxed corners, and more!

Sports Clinic

Co-Ed Flag Football and Basketball

Students will have the opportunity to learn and sharpen individual skills through fun drills & games, and work together through a series of game/scrimmages.

STEM

In STEM, we look at how Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math work together to create the things we use every day.  Understanding the fundamentals of circuits and software, students will gain hands-on experience learning to build and program microcontroller systems. These systems will help them explore scientific concepts such as light and sound.

Trades Workshop

This workshop will allow students to sample TWO different trades- Automotive and Construction/Woodworking. Students will learn skills and have the opportunity to do hands-on projects!
